Taylor Swift seems to have moved on from any lingering issues with Kanye West, as she remains unfazed by his recent mention of her in his new song, “Carnival.”
According to an exclusive source in the latest issue of Us Weekly, Taylor has a lot on her plate and is not concerned with Kanye’s actions. The source states, “[Taylor] has no plans on responding publicly or privately.”
The longstanding rivalry between West and Swift dates back to 2009 when West interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTV VMAs. The feud escalated in 2016 when West claimed Swift approved of being mentioned in his track “Famous,” while Swift denied giving her consent for the controversial line, “I made that bitch famous.” Kim Kardashian, West’s ex-wife, later released a secretly recorded video of their conversation, prompting Swift to request being “excluded from the narrative.”
A second insider shares that, from Taylor’s perspective, the feud is one-sided, with Kanye attempting to regain the spotlight. The source adds, “Kanye is trying to get back in the spotlight, and an easy way to do that is through Taylor, who has completely moved on.”
Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s album, Vultures 1, released on February 17, features the track “Carnival.” This comes amid rumors that Swift allegedly kicked West out of Super Bowl LVIII for buying tickets in front of her private suite. West’s representative denied the rumors, emphasizing that they were “a completely fabricated rumor.”
While Taylor Swift seems to be leaving the drama behind, she has addressed their tension in her music. After the VMAs incident, she released “Innocent” on her 2010 album Speak Now, taking a compassionate approach. In 2016, her song “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” from Reputation took a harsher tone after the fallout from the recorded phone call with West.
Swift’s upcoming 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, set to release on April 19, has fans speculating whether she will mention West. The track “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” has fueled speculation about its connection to the rapper. Only time will tell if Swift addresses their past in this highly anticipated album.
